Well, March came and went quickly and along with basketball it brought a flurry of fashion magazines flaunting the very best that Spring has to offer. I love this time of year! Behold my translations of a few choice advertisements… win or lose, they held my attention for longer than the average page turn!
I recently had the pleasure of hosting a Spring 2015 Fashion Trend Event at Neiman Marcus. For a captive audience of budget conscious fashionistas I presented the season’s hottest offerings from the American luxury retailer.
With the assistance of models Sonya and Melissa I showed my own translations of the runway’s predominant Spring trends, brought down to earth and presented in a real-life way; fashion made easy for the everyday gals. I styled four primary trend categories in a variety of ways, showing how one could take the trend quite literally or simply incorporate select elements from each trend to achieve the look and remain current.
The New Bohemian
Jet set meets gypsy in boho blouses and tunics, distressed denim, fringe, embroidery and maxi dresses…
Bold hues inspired by the organic rainbow of colors found in the spice markets of India…
On The White Side
From bright white to sand, this head-to-toe palette reads modern and sophisticated…
Other Spring 2015 Trends at Neiman Marcus (also shown above):
Long, Layered Necklaces
The Bucket Bag

We had a lot of fun! In addition to the wonderful Amore Pacific beauty products each attendee received, one lucky winner recieved a gift bag that included a full bottle of Maison Francis Kurkdjian À la rose Eau de Parfum and a gift certificate for a 2 hour styling session with your truly!
Many thanks to Kim Biehl, General Manager of Neiman Marcus and Robert Roubideaux for having me…
Many thanks to my photographer Tasia Hron for capturing these images! There’s a video too which will be posted on my YouTube channel soon. Thanks also to Khadijah Brooks for making me look my best with Kevyn Aucoin make-up!

For the third year in a row Cocktails & Couture absolutely SMASHED IT at The Ritz in Ybor Tampa. The Cocktails X Couture event was held Saturday, January 17th and was sponsored by Tampa Bay Fashion Week, Tribeca Color Salon, Square One, The Ritz Ybor, & Kevin Murphy and select proceeds benefitted the Pediatric Cancer Foundation. I’ve been in attendance since its inception and can honestly say that this recent #CXC15 was gloves down the most entertaining show to date. What a visual cornucopia of flavor… a people watcher’s dream come true! This fashion-lover’s event was jam packed with style, both on the stage and in the audience.
Essentially, it was a show within a show within a show. There were three shows performed on stage in the impressive main ball room, breaking up the audience’s night into alternating periods of being entertained and being fabulously sociable. There were two additional bar rooms which housed performance art, local art for sale, and fashions by the designers featured in the runway show. This seemed to be where the pulse of the networking crowd would escalate between sets, where all walks of style combined and mingled with one another until the next show. I thought the timeline flowed nicely and was blown away by the music DJ Elias Throux was pumping out throughout the night. The runway fashion featured a wild mix of everything from everyday jeans & tees to whimsical paper dresses to leather body harnesses, a little something for every palette. I was also impressed by the heightened fashions adorning the diverse crowd of culture connoisseurs. All walks of life came out for this stylish event and I think that speaks volumes about the rise of fashion here in Tampa, Florida.
Rocking their GoBearr harness fashions, the bartenders served up custom cocktails like ‘Chris-Gin Dior’ and ‘Gin Kardashian’ to a very thirsty crowd…
Several talented dance companies appeared throughout the show. I loved the infusion of dance, song, and theater,
The evening’s host with the most, The Ritz Ybor’s Okie Tilo…
Let the fashion begin! Here are some of my favorite looks from the show:
Black and Denim Apparel Company…
Gianna Love & the House of Love ft. Haus of Blackbird…

So my usual method of operations for conducting a translation blog post is that I view the runway shows, pick a few looks from my favorites, and search the internet for pieces that are similar but typically more affordable than the originals. Well that process was determined to be useless when it came to the pieces that Phillip Lim sent down the runway for Spring 2015. I found them to be unique in their construction, with rope piping details and asymmetrical patterns. They seem comfortable and organic. I had a hard time narrowing down my favorites and I could picture myself wearing any of the pieces in the collection.
When I attempted to find similar pieces online I was met with disappointment. I exhausted all of my usual resources… and nothing! The construction of each piece in this collection is so unusual, but so flattering to the female form. WHY have we not seen this before? Where has this been all my life? Will the collection be successful on the commercial front? I hope so. I wish I could have found comparable pieces online, but alas I have failed. I will not rest until I find something similar that I can actually afford. For now, I will admit defeat and leave you with these pics of my favorite looks from the 3.1 Phillip Lim Spring 2015 Runway Show…

Oh, how I love Mona Kowalska’s A Détacher Spring 2015 dresses… let me count the ways: The bohemian prints were soft and fantastical, evoking a 70’s vibe infused with clouds and rainbows and all things groovy. The shapes and fabrics were comfort driven, which makes me want to wear them all day long. The overall message was confident and relaxed, two things I strive for when selecting a day look during Spring.
Below are a few budget-friendly options that will help you to achieve the same easy, breezy vibe as the A Détacher dresses above. These are shoppable now, so if you want to get more bang for your buck throw on a pair of tights, some flatforms, a jacket, and voila… you’re Spring Shirt Shifter suddenly becomes a year-round piece!

It’s that time of year again… my favorite season is finally here! The temperatures are dropping ever so slightly, the stores are stocking up on new fall fashions, my event calendar is getting a little more active… it’s Fall Fashion time people!
I’ve been to two trunk shows in the past few days and I’m planning on attending several more in the coming weeks… not to mention the absolute bombardment of fashion shows coming up in September (Stay tuned for more about that). Anywho, let me share with you the pictures from my recent visit to the WORTH NEW YORK Fall 2014 Trunk Show that was held at my friend Angier Miller’s home. My gal pal Denise Schultz and I had the best time shopping and modeling this fabulous collection. The pieces will only be there for a limited time, but Angier did let me know that she’s happy to give private and virtual showings to any interested buyers.
Rather than bore you with lots of words about how lovely the pieces look and how wonderfully they fit and how well-constructed they are and about how the quality and craftsmanship is superior to most, why don’t I just show you the pictures? Yes?
If you love what you see and you’d like to schedule some time with WORTH New York Agency Owner Angier Miller to shop the Fall 2014 collection email her at firstname.lastname@example.org. The pieces will be in Tampa, Florida until August 20th, but she can hook you up with more information about how to get the best looks for Fall!
