Runway Translation: The Spring Shirt Shifter
Oh, how I love Mona Kowalska’s A Détacher Spring 2015 dresses… let me count the ways: The bohemian prints were soft and fantastical, evoking a 70’s vibe infused with clouds and rainbows and all things groovy. The shapes and fabrics were comfort driven, which makes me want to wear them all day long. The overall message was confident and relaxed, two things I strive for when selecting a day look during Spring.
Below are a few budget-friendly options that will help you to achieve the same easy, breezy vibe as the A Détacher dresses above. These are shoppable now, so if you want to get more bang for your buck throw on a pair of tights, some flatforms, a jacket, and voila… you’re Spring Shirt Shifter suddenly becomes a year-round piece!

Runway Translation: Calvin Klein Spring 2014
When I think of Calvin Klein I think of clean lines and classic American style. White. Black. Modern. Minimalism. The Spring 2014 Ready-To-Wear Collection designed by Women’s Creative Director Francisco Costa was a refreshing departure from the norm for this typically reserved brand. Experimenting with fringe and exposed seam allowances, Costa referred to the collection as “elevated deconstruction”. Here are my three favorite looks from the show…
In order to achieve this look several key elements must come into play:
Silhouette: Short Dress
Texture: Fringe and Lace
Color: Neutral Colorblocking or Patchwork
Here’s my sporty version of the look, complete with flatform sandals and the perfect nude lipstick…
1. MYF Short Dress, $187, yoox.com
2. Marc Jacobs Sunglasses, $70, bluefly.com
3. Tom Ford Sable Smoke Lipstick, $49, neimanmarcus.com
4. Nila Anthony Backpack, $65, nordstrom.com

Celine Fall 2013- Runway Translation
“Really elegant but weird; almost nerdy but perverse.”
~ Photographer Juergen Teller describing the Celine Fall Collection
My top three looks from the Celine Fall Collection had several key elements in common. If you’re a fan of the simple, elegant, mid-century modern made contemporary looks above, and you’d like to give it a go, be sure to include the following elements in your ensemble:
Color- Soft and monochromatic. Top and skirt should be solid and matching in color.
Texture- Every piece should want to make you touch it! Go for wooly, cozy, furry, etc.
Shape- Boxy on top with a fit & flare skirt that falls below the knee.
Booties- Find one that hits below the mid-calf and fits like a second skin.
