Last September, the color experts from Pantone announced their Fashion Color Trend Report for Spring/ Summer 2019, which made a comprehensive overview for New York Fashion Week. The color palette is comprised of 16 main colors, 4 of which were neutral (Toffee, Soybean, Sweet Corn, Brown Granite).
Ladies, this summer don’t be afraid to drape yourself in neutrals from head to toe. Feel free to mix your neutrals with pops of color, but if you want to be on-trend, wear one shade all over or maybe mix it with another neutral tone. Shoes and accessories can be neutral too, this will be your “soft” fashion statement.
Wearing neutrals is a classic and timeless trend, built into every stylish woman’s wardrobe during the last 50 years, and the current ‘neutral invasion’ is here to say. This time it’s the fruit of a huge change in the current generation’s perception regarding gender. Statistics show that 38 percent of Gen Z-ers strongly agreed that gender no longer defines a person as much as it used to, and 27 percent of millennials felt the same way.
This change in gender perception pushed fashion designers to combine men’s and women’s collections on the runway. Many progressive designers have abolished ‘girls’ and ‘boys’ labels on children’s clothing… and more fashion brands are launching gender-neutral collections, hence more neutral color clothing is being produced for our consumption.
So, let the calming vibes of beige, taupe, ivory and white wash over you this summer. Put your outfit in the neutral zone and wait for the compliments to pour in.
